Good morning,
I have no idea yet what I will do today. I am up and dressed, reading my Bible but I am also waiting for a phone call that will give me work. When I first began this year it was unsettling to never really know what I would be doing each day. That's the life of a substitute teacher, but by now I am used to it. I have learned to go with the flow. If I get work, praise the Lord! If I don’t get work, praise the Lord! Every month I pray that God will give me enough days of work to pay the bills. He has always come through for us. So, there is no need to worry.
Matthew 6:31-32 says, “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.”
It is a faith-builder to say the least. But it doesn’t stop with not worrying. The scripture goes on to say, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”(v.33-34).
Not only are we not to worry, we are also to do something pro-active—seek and live. Seek what? God’s kingdom and live righteously. What does it mean to seek God’s kingdom?
To me it means to seek God’s agenda and care for what He cares for—which is others who have more needs than I do; to develop holy habits; to live the way Jesus would live if He were here today. We have enough to do without worrying about what we will eat, drink, or wear—God will take care of that. We just need to be about our Father’s business.
With that said, I will trust the Father to give me what I need today as I spend time with Him and then look to see how I can impact the lives of others for the Kingdom.
I still don’t know what I will be doing today, but I know who I will be doing it with.
So, what are you doing today?
